Brisbane Australia (December 2007) – InterSystems has been selected by Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) to supply a suite of information systems solutions for the expansion of the International Terminal.

Brisbane Australia is home to close to 2 million people and is the major port for International and domestic travel for Queensland. Brisbane Airport sees over 17 Million travellers a year, and was awarded “Best Privatised Airport” in 2005 by IATA.

Recently, Brisbane has been undergoing a dramatic expansion. InterSystems is working closely with Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC), to ensure the Information Technology requirements for the expansion are delivered on-time and on-budget. For over a decade, InterSystems' RapidAIMS and RapidFIDS have been the  Brisbane Airport‘s sole FIDS and AODB Solutions.

InterSystems while working with Bovis Lend Lease (the main contractor) will provide an additional 175 screens throughout the terminal, install new check-in desk equipment, automated aircraft docking integration, building management and emergency evacuation integration and six new large format hybrid FIDS signs. This contract is valued in excess of A$2.5 Million. The InterSystems RapidACIS (InterSystems Airport Commercial Information System), will be expanded to manage passenger and retail information for all 56 retail stores.

To complement its $1 Billion Parallel Runway expansion, BAC is expanding the International Terminal Building, refurbishing and expanding the Domestic Common Use Area, and building a Multi-Level Car Park. InterSystems is working with BAC to make these grand visions a reality. While dealing with the difficulties of very tight deadlines and budgets, InterSystems is providing  expert support, new FIDS screens installation, AODB updates and new software module integration.

The 5 story Multi-Level Car Park completed and opened in mid 2007,  features 15 arrival, departure and advertising displays for the nearby International Terminal.

The International Terminal Building's A$340M expansion is taking shape very quickly.  The project began in October 2006 and will accommodate the A380 and other wide bodied aircraft, as well as the ever increasing number of passengers.
