InterSystems Announces a New Multimedia Advertising Solution

, Cannes, France, InterSystems is proud to introduce its latest development, RapidADS, a unique, multimedia advertising solution, at the Passenger Terminal Expo 2000. RapidADS is an exciting new module of the RapidAIMS Airport Information Management Solution. This solution creates a new revenue stream for airports, airport vendors and airport service providers.

RapidADS inserts advertisements on highly-viewed display devices, which provide critical flight, gate and baggage carousel information. This solution gives the airport operator and advertisers the flexibility of showing different ads to captive audiences in various areas of the airport and enables targeted promotional efforts. RapidADS may also be integrated into external locations which are linked to the RapidAIMS network, providing commercial exposure far from the terminal.

According to industry statistics, the average passenger arrives at the airport approximately one hour prior to domestic flights and two hours before international flights. Therefore, passengers are an ideal captive audience for the promotion of specific products or specials at retail stores, airport restaurants, ground transportation services, and nearby hotels. Using RapidADS, airports can dramatically increase the average expenditure per passenger prior to flights - giving a real boost to airport businesses and the airport operators.

RapidADS provides a unique and smart advertising vehicle which is based on existing infrastructure. RapidADS enables operators to control content of advertisements by time or event, to targeted audiences, providing advertisers with maximum impact for their expenditure. Labeled "smart-zoned" advertising, promotions within the network may be channeled to entrances/exits, check-in areas, retail/duty free shops, boarding gates, baggage carousels, lounges, ground transportation stations, parking areas and even remote locations, such as hotels. Using existing FIDS displays, multimedia enabled monitors, video screens, plasma screens and any electronic medium available, airports can advertise retail specials, cultural events at the point of destination, or any other commercial product or service.

Intelligent Display of Ads is Rules Driven
Display rules are programmed to determine the conditions under which a certain promotion should be displayed, and on which display medium. RapidADS identifies which advertisements are set to be displayed on a specific device, at specific time and date intervals. A sophisticated feature in the RapidADS module enables programming of ads set to be displayed dynamically, using specific events recorded in the RapidAIMS database - for example, the introduction of a new gate or check- in counter. The system enables different videos to be displayed simultaneously, on a large number and type of display devices throughout the terminal.

A Sophisticated Advertising Account Management Tool
All information regarding advertising accounts is tracked in real-time, stored in the system's data base and converted into useful reports and graphs for planning, cost-effectiveness analysis and billing purposes for operators, retailers, advertisers, media houses and companies.
